Seither hat sie in Romanen, Erzählungen und Essays die Welt der Abenteurer und der Hochstapler, der Entdecker und der Taugenichtse erkundet. In einer lakonischen und lyrischen, eigensinnigen und uneitlen Prosa hat sie ein erzählerisches Universum erfunden, in dem Grundfragen eines postmodernen Daseins mit freier und befreiender Phantasie durchgespielt werden. Das Reisebuch Pigafetta (1999), der pikareske Roman Paradiese, Übersee (2003), die Porträtgalerie Verbrecher und Versager (2004), die moderne Legende von der heiligen Johanna (2006), die Neuerzählung des Ritterromans von Iwein Löwenritter (2008) und jüngst die fiktive Biographie Hoppe (2012) unterlaufen virtuos die Grenzen von Wahrheit und Fiktion, Selbsterkenntnis und Rollenspiel. Felicitas Hoppe fragt nach Möglichkeiten der Ich-Werdung, nach den Wundern und Verstrickungen der Sehnsucht, und lässt unaufdringlich metaphysische Horizonte aufscheinen. In einer Zeit, in der das Reden in eigener Sache die Literatur immer mehr dominiert, umkreist Felicitas Hoppes sensible und bei allem Sinn für Komik melancholische Erzählkunst das Geheimnis der Identität: „Denn auf welchen Namen wir wirklich getauft sind, wer kann das schon wissen“. Felicitas Hoppe wurde am 22. Dezember 1960 in Hameln an der Weser geboren. Ab 1980 studierte sie Literaturwissenschaften, Rhetorik, Religionswissenschaften, Italienisch und Russisch an Universitäten in Hildesheim, Tübingen, Eugene/Oregon (USA), sowie in Berlin und Rom. Seit 1996 lebt sie in Berlin als freie Schriftstellerin. Schiffe aus aller Welt beehrten den Hamburger Hafen, darunter etliche Windjammer, so die Dreimastbark Alexander von Humboldt II, der Großsegler Star Flyer, und die russische Viermastbark Kruzenshtern. Das Kreuzfahrtunternehmen AIDA Cruises aus Rostock begrüßte ihr neuntes Flottenmitglied AIDAmar mit dessen Schiffstaufe, und ein Großfeuerwerk über dem Hafen bildete dann den Abschluss der Feierlichkeiten. © hamburg.de
